Chanctonbury Healthcare Ltd is a local expert provider of private care homes for the elderly in East Sussex. It is a family-owned business. The Sinclair family have been in the care home business for over ten years, and they are from Sussex themselves. They have three care homes:

• Oaklands Court Care Home with Nursing which is located in Horam
• The Queensmead Residential Care Home in Polegate
• Alfriston Court Luxury Care Home is located on the edge of the beautiful tourist village of Alfriston in the South Downs

In order to use our Chanctonbury systems we rely on our server connecting all three homes. Although this server is housed in our Queensmead Home at Polegate which has fibre broadband, our staff and residents in both Oaklands Court and Alfriston Court struggle on the internet speeds connecting to our server. Having all our systems running through a server, it is vital that we are able to access data quickly but it is like walking through mud which makes tasks time consuming and frustrating. Our staff need to be spending their time caring for our residents' needs instead of waiting for internet connections. 

We also have managers who need to be able to work from home and connect into our server but again slow speeds make this a very time consuming task.

Our residents and their relatives are requesting good quality broadband to run their devices such as kindle and laptops. The residents also want to use Skype to speak to family and friends who are unable to visit. We therefore spend much time in apologising for the inadequacies of the internet which when a resident has been looking forward to seeing someone and they keep getting cut off can be extremely upsetting.

We are looking forward to getting faster broadband and connectivity across all our locations as part of the eSussex initiative; we will all then benefit from faster broadband and our lives will be more enriched.
