Jenny Mathieson

A keen user of technology

Jenny Mathieson, has been a resident of Forest Row since 1972 moving to the Highgate area in 1982. A former model and a published author bursting with ideas for a new book to support pre-school children with Dyslexia, Jenny is a keen user of technology.   In particular, she actively promotes the benefits she has found from using Skype to keep in touch with family and friends:

"My beloved teenage Granddaughter lives in Scotland and is studying at Edinburgh University.

I have little chance to keep in touch with her taste or needs. Last year I visited  her on Skype and she opened the links to her favourite shops - together we looked at winter coats.  When she had made her choice I was able to purchase a coat online and it was sent to me in time to gift wrap it and put it under the tree ready for when she came south for Christmas.

Over the years my Granddaughter has taken her webcam around each of her flats (except the untidy floor!) and introduced me to several of her flatmates. It is lovely to have a background and faces to the people she talks about.

Skype and online deliveries can be a boon to ‘elderly’s’ on a tight budget."
